Artificial intelligence (AI) at the edge—rapidly becoming a commercial reality in agriculture, healthcare, industrial, robotics, and smart city applications—employs a mix of processing in the cloud and at the edge. So, Nvidia’s Jetson, an AI-at-the-edge compute platform with over one million developers, is integrating Infineon’s AIROC system-on-chip (SoC), a combo of IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2.

The AI applications covering live actions produce computer-generated images and videos; case in point: gaming and AR/VR in industrial applications. Here, AI platforms must process and stream data simultaneously while minimizing network latency and preventing interruptions due to congested wireless networks. A reliable and instant Wi-Fi cloud connectivity is also critical in deploying AI models through over-the-air (OTA) updates.
Currently, in congested network environments, AI devices often encounter disconnections or low-data throughput. Inevitably, it leads to a poor user experience. By incorporating AIROC Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices, Nvidia’s Jetson system-on-modules will ensure high data throughput streaming as well as uninterrupted system-level performance.
The AIROC silicon features higher speed and robust connectivity of Wi-Fi 6/6E standards as well as low-power of Wi-Fi 5 networks. It also comes with built-in hardware security to protect Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity from malicious attacks on the AI edge platforms.

Jetson, which comes with pre-trained AI models, developer SDKs and support for cloud-native technologies, enables AI developers to build and deploy software-defined features on embedded and edge devices. Now, the availability of robust and secure connectivity on the Jetson AI platform takes away one more task from developers, allowing them to focus on the end application and user experience.
Jetson’s abundant processing power combined with a Wi-Fi 6/Bluetooth combo seems to be a step in the right direction for blending AI with streaming applications.
