Qualcomm adds Smart Transit 3.0 to its Snapdragon X70 modem-RF chip to optimize radio transmit power across cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The X70 also offers what Qualcomm calls the world’s first 5G standalone mmWave connection.
Announced earlier this year, the Snapdragon X70 modem packs a 5G AI processor that pairs with advanced capabilities to enable 10-Gigabit 5G downloads, fast upload speeds, low latency, and improved power efficiency. The latest enhancements are made possible by the X70’s upgradable architecture.
Smart Transit 3.0 is an upgraded system-level feature that extends transmit power management to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It now enables real-time averaging of transmit power across 2G-5G, mmWave, Wi-Fi (2.4-GHz 6/6E/7), and Bluetooth (2.4) for enhanced radio performance.
The 5G standalone mmWave connection delivers peak speeds of more than 8 Gbps. 5G standalone mmWave allows the deployment of 5G mmWave networks and devices without using an anchor on sub-6 GHz spectrum.
Snapdragon X70 is currently sampling to customers. Commercial mobile devices based on Snapdragon X70 modem are expected to launch by late 2022.
